Reaching Net Zero together with portfolio companies

Infranode is on a mission to work towards reaching Net Zero by 2040, or sooner. This work is in close collaboration with our portfolio companies, co-owners, and partner. To dive deeper into this transition, we spoke with Helene Moen, Head of Sustainability at portfolio company Akershus Energi.

Helene Moen
Head of Sustainability at portfolio company Akershus Energi

Why is Akershus Energi aiming for climate positivity by 2035?

We see this ambition as our license to operate. We believe that businesses that do not adapt now, will not be successful in the future. Net Zero emissions and a climate-positive impact by 2035 is a necessary condition for fulfilling our ambitions and success as a company.

Why are efforts to reach climate positivity and Net Zero emissions by infrastructure companies such as Akershus Energi important?

The only way forward for us, and for the economy as a whole, is to cut emissions. As an infrastructure provider, we have an important role to play in enabling our society and economy to function smoothly, now and in the future. Therefore, our climate impact is essential.

What business risks and opportunities do you see in this effort?

We seek to be a leader on the journey towards sustainability. To achieve our goals, we will need new technologies and innovative solutions. I think that this need will be a force for growth and innovation, and being an early mover in this transition presents valuable opportunities.

What are the key factors for success in achieving climate neutrality?

I think the most important factor is to get everyone on board. Naturally, this also applies to the leadership and the board as sustainability efforts often regards long-term spending decisions.
